Calogero Receives ABO Award

Glens Falls Resident Judy Calogero Honored as Housing Advocate

of the Year by Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York

New York, Oct. 29 -- For the first time in its 99-year history, The Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York (ABO) honored all women, five distinguished female real estate industry leaders, at its Anniversary Dinner-Dance yesterday evening in New York City.

Judy Calogero of Glens Falls, CEO of the New York Housing Conference, received ABO’s Affordable Housing Advocate of the Year Award. In honoring Ms. Calogero, ABO executive director Nick LaPorte said, “Under her leadership, the New York Housing Conference has been successfully lobbying for affordable housing legislation and funding.”

He added, “Women have made significant strides in taking leadership roles alongside their male counterparts in the real estate community.  From CEOs and founders of companies to top-selling agents or housing rights advocates, these women have contributed profoundly to the industry with their perspectives, perseverance, intelligence, and more. We believe that it is vital to recognize their successes in what began as a male-dominant industry,”

Recognized by ABO for their contributions to the City and the real estate industry, the other four 2009 honorees were Ruth A. Agnese, president of Appraisers and Planners, Inc.; Rosalie Edson, owner and CEO of Meadows Office Furniture Company; Romy Goldman, founder and president of Gold Development LLC; and Rebecca Mason, executive director of Caran Properties, Inc.
