CEO

Appointed in 2008, Judith Calogero is the Chief Executive Officer of the New York Housing Conference. As CEO, Ms. Calogero directs a broad-based coalition of developers, owners, managers, professionals, and funders of affordable housing whose goal is decent affordable housing for all New Yorkers. Under her leadership, NYHC advocates for the housing needs of New Yorkers through affordable housing legislation with adequate funding and workable regulations.
 
From 2002 through 2006, Ms. Calogero was the Commissioner of the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal. As the state’s housing commissioner, she directed an executive branch agency, two public authority corporations and advised the governor on all housing policy and community development issues.
 
A life-long advocate for affordable housing, Ms. Calogero began her career as a community organizer for the United Tenants of Albany, NY. She headed the New York State Rural Housing Coalition and also served as Deputy Commissioner of DHCR and President of the state’s Housing Trust Fund Corporation. From January 2007 to December 2008, Ms. Calogero led a new Northeast Regional office for the US investment bank of the Royal Bank of Canada, where she oversaw the acquisition of real estate. During her tenure in New York State government, nearly $10 billion was invested in government assisted housing. Ms. Calogero was also involved in the legislative and regulatory development of the NYS Low Income Housing Tax Credit, the Homes for Working Families program, NY Main Street program and Access to Home.
 
Ms. Calogero serves as Trustee of The College of Saint Rose, Commissioner of the Glens Falls Industrial Development Agency, Board Member of the Greater Glens Falls Development Corporation, and Board Member of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing.
