Industry experts evaluated the federal housing policy landscape, including the status of current legislative proposals and those likely to come to the table in 2010. Policy issues discussed included a proposal to extend the Low Income Housing Tax Credit 9% Exchange Program, Section 8 Voucher reform, Section 3 reform, legislative and regulatory proposals to improve the Federal Housing Administration’s Multi-family programs, the latest Treasury and HUD guidance and federal agency appropriations.

These government leaders shared best practices for current housing development issues, including deal structuring and how to best position deals to receive the greatest benefit from government resources. Topics included deals that successfully closed in 2009 and some of the special provisions that had to be put into place to accommodate the requirements of the federal stimulus programs and new investor demands.
